Grassy Talk - What are cryptogams and what are they doing in our grasslands?

About

Dr Sapphire McMullan-Fisher will give us the lowdown on grassland cryptograms, the mysterious fungi, lichens, algae, slime moulds and bryophytes (mosses) we might encounter at the soil crust.

Sapphire is an ecologist and educator, did her doctorate at the University of Tasmania, and has been involved with many Australian fungi groups for over two decades. She’s co-author of the recently published Fungi for Land, a practical guide for land managers. She teaches at the University of New England and has special interests in the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, particularly the macrofungi and mosses; fire ecology; and field surveys.
