Grassy Tour: Bababi Djinanang cap and sow, some weeding, plus Emma St and Leonard St Grasslands
About
Back in June we sowed a species-rich seed mix onto a prepared bed of basalt dust at the lovely grassland on a bend of the Merri Creek in Fawkner. It’s part of a project, funded by Microsoft through the Society of Ecological Restoration, aimed at advancing our understanding of cap-and sow restoration. And we’re looking forward to seeing the results!
We’ll start with a walk around the grassland, then jump in to maybe an hour’s weeding! After, we’ll walk down the shared trail a bit to the Emma and Leonard Street Grasslands, two small patches that are springing back to grassy goodness since the slashers were removed and the land came into public ownership.
This Grassy Tourour runs for 2. hours.
Remember to wear closed shoes, dress sensibly for the weather and bring sunscreen and water!
This tour is being run in conjunction with Merri Creek Management Committee.
